Aaron at Sundance with "The Hunting Ground" — LIYANA THE MOVIE

Our co-director, Aaron, got to spend a few busy days at the Sundance Film Festival this year. He was a cinematographer for the new documentary, THE HUNTING GROUND, that was premiering at the festival. This is the 2nd of Kirby Dick's films that Aaron has worked on. It's a very timely and important documentary about sexual assault on college campuses.

Check out the trailer here:

The film was well received with standing ovations at every screening. Aaron had a lot of fun with the team, especially the film's editor Doug Blush (who also edited the Academy Award winning film 20 FEET FROM STARDOM).

Speaking of exceptional editors, Davis Coombe was at Sundance with the latest film he edited, BEING EVEL, directed by Daniel Junge. Davis is co-editor for LIYANA and much fun is always had when we get together.

LIYANA UPDATE:

Aaron's freelance work on film's such as THE HUNTING GROUND is one of the ways that we're making sure we can keep paying for animation and post-production on LIYANA. The artwork that Shofela is creating continues to blow us away every day. Our ambitions for the animated sequences are intense. We want to give you guys a truly beautiful and enchanting film.

We certainly could use your help with the post-production costs if you can pitch in. We were recently awarded fiscal sponsorship with the Independent Filmmaker Project, so any contributions are tax-deductible. It is super easy to donate online, or send in a check with this downloadable contribution form. We would love for you to be a part of our LIYANA project.

If you would like to talk to one of us about how you can help, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Thanks for reading!
